Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant is a UK national promise ensuring that service members, veterans, and their families receive fair treatment and aren’t disadvantaged compared to the general public, acknowledging their sacrifices, with key principles in law via the Armed Forces Act 2011. The AFC’s core principles are:
- Fair Treatment: Guarantees the Armed Forces Community (serving, veterans, families, bereaved) is treated fairly and with respect.
- No Disadvantage: Ensures they face no disadvantage when accessing public & commercial services.
- National Obligation: Acknowledges the unique sacrifices made and the nation’s moral obligation to support them.
Gama Aviation’s support
Gama Aviation, a proud Armed Forces Covenant signatory, has long supported veterans, reservists, cadets, and military families. It holds the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award and is currently working toward Gold, reflecting commitment to the armed forces community. Key initiatives include hiring pathways for service leavers, partnerships with the Royal Air Force and Civil Aviation Authority, and active advocacy of Covenant principles. The company also engages in community outreach – hosting Reserve units, supporting local cadet groups, and sponsorships – underscoring the value of military experience to the company and its broader contribution to national security.
