New dedicated rotorcraft Paintshop to open at Staverton, strengthening the UK Rotary Centre of Excellence
Gama Aviation is expanding its rotary aircraft capability with the introduction of a new, purpose-built Paintshop at its UK Rotary Centre of Excellence in Staverton. Open for business in January 2026, the facility marks a significant step forward in the company’s strategy to offer a complete, end-to-end support solution for rotary aircraft operators, owners, and management companies.
The investment brings refinishing, repainting and livery services directly alongside Gama Aviation’s established Part-145 maintenance, avionics and interior modification capabilities, enabling clients to benefit from a more integrated and efficient service.
A purpose-built environment designed for quality and consistency
The new Paintshop has been engineered specifically for rotary aircraft refinishing. Measuring 16 metres by 8 metres, the controlled environment incorporates advanced filtration, specialist lighting and optimised airflow management to deliver consistent, high-quality surface finishes.
Designed and manufactured in Britain to exacting aviation standards, the facility has been created to support a wide range of paint requirements — from complete aircraft repaints and livery changes to smaller component and panel refinishing. This gives operators a flexible, technically robust environment suitable for both major and minor works across multiple rotary platforms.
Capability built around leading rotary aircraft types
Under its EASA and CAA Part-145 approval, Gama Aviation will initially support full paint projects for:
These platforms represent a significant portion of the UK and European rotary market, and the Paintshop has been developed with their specific refinishing requirements in mind. In addition, the facility has the flexibility to accommodate a wider range of rotary aircraft through subcontracted approval where appropriate, ensuring operators with mixed fleets benefit from a consistent standard of quality and oversight.
Clients will also have access to Gama Aviation’s in-house design capability, offering aviation-approved colour matching and bespoke paint scheme development, ensuring both aesthetic precision and full regulatory compliance for each project.
Three decades of refinishing expertise
The new Paintshop will be led by a senior rotary paint specialist with more than 30 years’ experience in the aircraft refinishing sector. Having worked across multiple OEM platforms and environments, this individual brings extensive expertise in coatings, materials, finishing techniques and quality control.
This leadership ensures that every project — from minor touch-ups to complete liveries — is approached with a high degree of technical rigour and an understanding of the unique requirements associated with rotary aircraft painting.
A complete rotary solution: maintain, modify and now paint
The introduction of the Paintshop is the final phase in establishing Staverton as one of the UK’s most comprehensive rotary support hubs. Clients can now rely on Gama Aviation for a fully integrated solution that includes:
-
Part-145 airframe maintenance
-
Avionics installation and upgrades
-
Component repair and structural support
-
Complete aircraft repainting and refinishing
This integration allows aircraft to remain on-site from the start of a project through to completion, reducing handling and ferrying requirements, improving coordination between disciplines and minimising overall downtime.
For owners, operators and management companies, this approach delivers a more efficient, consistent and controlled experience, with a single accountable team managing the entire process.
Strengthening Gama Aviation’s long-term rotary strategy
The creation of the new Paintshop reflects Gama Aviation’s continued investment in the rotary sector and its commitment to developing specialist capabilities that support the long-term needs of operators across the UK, Europe and beyond.
By building a facility tailored to both the technical requirements of leading platforms and the operational needs of clients, the company continues to develop solutions that enhance availability, performance and presentation across the lifecycle of rotary aircraft.
