Jersey FBO team to swim 30 Bays in one day for local charities
At Gama Aviation’s Jersey FBO—a premier business aviation facility serving the Channel Islands mainland and beyond—three of our ground-handling specialists are turning charity into action. On 30 July, Joshua Mathers, Jane Hacker and Joanne Calvert will attempt to swim at 30 bays in just one day, all in support of Jersey Hospice Care and The National Trust for Jersey.
Strategically located at Jersey Airport (EGJJ), our FBO offers clients seamless crew lounges, VIP passenger facilities, hangarage, and aircraft handling services tailored to meet the needs of business aviation. Now, our team is applying the spirit of precision and service in their daily roles to take on a challenge that combines both endurance and community.
“This is exactly the kind of initiative we want to encourage across our FBO network,” explains Tom Murphy, Managing Director, FBO Services. “It demonstrates the pride our people have in their communities, and the energy they bring to everything they do—whether that’s managing aircraft arrivals or raising funds for charity.”
Their challenge is supported by FBO Manager Corin Barker and colleague Lucian Teodorescu, who will coordinate logistics, transport and on-the-day support. Each swim in the crystal-clear waters of Jersey forms part of a wider tradition—an annual “30 Bays in 30 Days” event. By tackling all 30 in one go, our team is demonstrating the character, commitment and camaraderie that reflect both Gama Aviation and the unique beauty of the Channel Islands.
The funds raised will benefit two vital community organisations:
- Jersey Hospice Care, offering free, specialist care for islanders with life-limiting conditions
- The National Trust for Jersey, preserving coastal landscapes and cultural heritage
Jersey’s dramatic coastline is more than a scenic backdrop—it’s central to who we are as a business and a community. At our FBO, we see it every day as part of our clients’ experience. On 30 July, it becomes part of our charitable mission.
