When Group CEO Marwan Khalek travelled to Sharjah earlier this month to meet the FBO and project teams behind our new Business Aviation Centre — still under construction and due to open soon — his focus was firmly on the future. But as his trip drew to a close, an unexpected delay threatened to derail his immediate plans.

With only a short window to make an important meeting in Jersey, Marwan’s original itinerary relied on a Dubai–London service with onward connections. A delayed departure from Dubai meant those connections were lost. For most passengers, that would have been the end of the story. For Gama Aviation, it was the start of one.

Using in-flight connectivity, Marwan contacted our 24/7 charter team based at Farnborough. Within minutes, they had assessed all of the available options. After landing in the UK, an alternative onward route was arranged and confirmed, permissions secured, and a crew lined up. By the time he landed, a seamless transfer was in place and communicated — and Marwan made it to Jersey on time.

For Adam Neaves, Head of Charter, the story highlights the capability his team provides every day:

“Our role is to take the unexpected and turn it into a solution. The team is available 24/7, with the experience and resources to act quickly when plans change. This example shows exactly how we support our clients, ensuring they reach their destination no matter the disruption.”

The successful reroute was more than just a scheduling victory — it meant Marwan was able to join colleagues and guests at the Jersey Chamber of Commerce lunch.

When plans change at 35,000 feet: how Gama Aviation’s charter team kept our CEO on schedule

Around the table were Gama Aviation representatives Tim and Rozena Pedley, Evie Freeman, and Graham Williamson, joined by an influential group of island leaders: Paul Holley (Head of Commercial, Ports of Jersey), James Godfrey (Chief Executive, Royal Jersey Horticultural and Agricultural Society), Tina Palmer (Director of ASL Recruitment and Highlands College Governor), Carl de la Cour (Relationship Director, Barclays Bank Jersey), and Darren Scott (CEO of Ferryspeed).

For Evie Freeman, Group Director of Client Experience, the presence of the team at the lunch reinforced the importance of being there in person:

“The value of these occasions is in the relationships they strengthen and the conversations they enable. Having Marwan there in person was significant, and it was only possible because of the charter team’s intervention.”

The story comes full circle: a last-minute change of plans, resolved with precision, that ensured Gama Aviation’s leadership was precisely where it needed to be — strengthening relationships and building connections that will support the future of our presence in Jersey.
