Gama Aviation is proud to share the successful completion of three vital projects in support of UK air ambulance charities – Cornwall Air Ambulance, Welsh Air Ambulance, and Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance – delivered through our integrated Design, Production, and Maintenance teams across multiple locations, including Bournemouth, Staverton (Gloucestershire) and Farnborough.
These bespoke modifications and mission system enhancements reflect the critical work of our clients and the deep commitment of our people who deliver for them.

Cornwall Air Ambulance – AW169 Medical Fit (G-CNLL)

The most recent project involved delivering a second AW169 helicopter to Cornwall Air Ambulance, which was completed in close partnership between our Design, Production, and Part 145 teams.
When the aircraft arrived in a configuration different from what was expected, our Staverton-based Design team worked closely with our 145 and 21G, along with support from Leonardo, to rapidly adapt and resolve complex challenges. The result was a high-quality air ambulance medical mission fitout, along with additional stowage, NVIS lighting, and a full Tetra suite for emergency network communications.

“Being part of this project is without doubt one of my career highlights,” said Paul Bristow. “It’s more than a job – it’s a passion for us all. The work we’ve done is of the highest quality, and I’m proud to be part of the team that delivered it.”

Karen Hurn, Head of Fundraising & Philanthropy at Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, echoed the sentiment in her personal message of thanks:

“Seeing G-CNLL for the first time was genuinely moving and inspiring. It’s given me a deeper understanding that I’ll be able to carry into my conversations with donors and supporters. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.”

Welsh Air Ambulance – H145 Livery

A shared vision, realised through collaboration and engineering expertise

We were proud to partner with Welsh Air Ambulance to help bring their bold new vision for the H145 fleet to life. This wasn’t just a paint scheme – it was part of a broader rebranding initiative, aimed at strengthening the charity’s identity and visibility across both air and ground operations in Wales.

Our Design team worked closely with the charity to transform their creative concept into a fully certifiable, operationally practical livery. Featuring a vivid red and green colour palette, a custom gradient, and the introduction of the new dragon tail emblem, the updated design has now been applied to two aircraft, with plans to extend it across the wider fleet.

Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance – AW169 Donation Decals

Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance tasked us with applying donor recognition decals to one of their AW169 aircraft. The project required careful structural and aesthetic consideration to ensure certification compliance while maintaining the charity’s visual brand and honouring the organisations that support its life-saving work.

This project is a great example of how even the smallest visible detail carries meaning – and how our Design and Production teams can deliver with care, precision, and pride.

Design Expertise Across the Network

Each of these projects was made possible by Gama Aviation’s experienced and accredited Design team, operating from multiple sites including Bournemouth, Farnborough and Staverton (Gloucestershire).

Working under CAA Part 21J. CAA Subpart A8-21 approvals or UK MOD DAOS, our mechanical, electrical, and avionic engineers deliver tailored design solutions for fixed and rotary-wing platforms. Both Civil and Military. From rapid prototyping and 3D scanning, to full interior completions, mission system designs and upgrades, along with flight test support, our Design teams are fully integrated with Production 21G and Part 145 to provide seamless delivery from concept to certification.
